YES is a free program for Ohio’s at-risk youth. YES focuses on keeping children out of the criminal justice system while empowering them with the tools they need to succeed.

Who Are We?

YES will successfully serves its community thanks to a team of hard-working members including the parent organization, Glenda A. Smith Youth Sanctuary, First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights, and Higher Ground Ministries.

To enhance children’s ability to reason and have positive outcomes, thereby eliminating interaction with the Ohio Juvenile Justice System.

Executive Director

Glenda A. Smith

Glenda was raised by a single parent in public housing. She was a teen mother, but because of her faith, work ethic, and charity she has a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate.
Glenda has four children. Her oldest has a master’s in social work, her son is a Journeyman Electrician and member of IBEW Local 648, her third child graduated from Wellesley College with her bachelor’s, and her fourth child is in her second year at Howard University.
In 2009 Glenda started a youth Bible study in Bond Hill, Ohio with the support of Zion Global Ministries which concluded in May 2017. With the help of volunteers, children we served the children weekly with meals, Bible study, and socialization.


Glenda is a practicing attorney in Ohio and Indiana. Youth Enrichment Services is a culmination of Glenda’s personal, professional, and service experiences.


Development Director

Guhan Krishnan

Guhan is currently a senior at William Mason High school and a fierce advocate for youth justice. He serves as a jury member for the Hamilton County Youth Court and currently holds the title of jury captain. During his over three years in the program, he has worked closely with the court to generate material, simplify laws, and attract a new, diverse pool of jurors. Guhan has seen the youth criminal justice system work firsthand and is determined to help fix it.
